The only defect I can find to Rolex Submariner it’s its ubiquity, every John and Larry have one, even if they don’t know anything about the watch but the brand name, added to the common fakes around (but all of this it’s the same with Omega). Nevertheless this reason didn’t keep me apart from a Sub. I think it’s probably one of the best watches for the price. Classic but sporty design which have passed the test of time, manufactured and frequently upgraded movement, high quality steel and an one of the best, if not the best, after sales service available in the market. Speedmaster simply doesn’t speak to me.

On looks alone, I love the Speedy and hate the Sub
- simple as that. If I am allowed to have the Speedy with the cal 321 then it's absolutely no contest ;-) Still the only EVA qualified watch for NASA, every collection should sport one. Even based around the later less appealing Cal 861 it still sends the Sub to the mat.
Speedy wins by a knockout.

What can I say about an icon? This watch is not a watch, it is a kind of statement that everything that was once fashionable will come back again. A healthy watch that never said much to me, but if you get off on all the history and times surrounding it, it is a must have. Only pity is that Omega is part of the Evil Empire. They would be much better off on their own, and today only partially realize their full potential in the market.
Comparing a chrono to a regular watch is a kind like comparing apples and apricots, but the Rolex is my kind of icon. It is just so easily visible in the dark, and I am in love with that seconds hand; it has never ever lost its appeal for me. An honest, workhorse movement form an independent producer that will never let you down; a tough watch with no holds barred- it’s my preference of the two, but I realize it is mostly a question of what pushes your buttons- even though the Rolex has none to push! |

Much prefer the submariner, a classic watch that is never out of fashion. Elegant, hardwearing and a very good everyday watch. The omega is a nice watch but reminds me a lot to the famous " Paul Newman " Daytona. |

Without hesitation, Rolex. It was nice when born, and it will be nice always. It is an atemporal watch. No wonder is the most copied watch ever. |
