I think they are both similar concepts in watchmaking, and, in addition, from the same factory (R&P). Similar complications and features, exotic components (even more for the RO), and of course, both great watches with astronomical prices. I very much prefer RM002, finding the RO too bulky after seeing both in the flesh, but it’s only a choice based on design and aesthetics, and of course personal preferences. Finally, Richard Mille fits much better my wrist. My vote goes for this one, even if, unfortunately, I can’t afford either of them, and probably never will, but dreaming is free, isn’t it? |

For me, aesthetically the RO at least appeals. Personally I cannot get on with the RM case look, never have. Technically both have novelty but in the end to what end? Why have a cobalt case when tegimented stainless is even harder? Why laud the achievement of 50g shock protection when only 5000g+ will pass the ISO shockproof standard? Yep you've guessed it, the RM wins but by points not by a knockout. |

If they were both to be given away for free, I would choose the RO Concept, then sell it and buy an RM 009 AND an RM 004-V2 for every day use. The Concept is a brave attempt of AP to be a bit more ‘hip’ a bit more ‘in’, a bit more á la Richard Mille watches to begin with....In fact it is a public secret that this was AP’s answer to the RM success they help produce and watch closely in the factory. But it ends up being too big, too bulky; the tourbillon ‘squiggle suspension’ too squiggly in a melodramatic expression of “please, please look at me, I really AM cool if you will just notice!” The essential case design is actually a nice change for AP, like Mille, bending close around the wrist with integrated case/strap connection- but it is just too massive to allow me to warm up to it.
Anyway, with the lousy and expensive service AP is all too well known for in here in Europe, who would dare buy one? And for me the bottom line is: Royal Oaks are all just very boring to begin with. You would think they could at least think up something new after 30 odd years....In fact that’s it: I much prefer the AP Millenary Maserati! Maybe they CAN be hip after all? |

Being an A.P. Official dealer I must choose the " CONCEPT " . I`ve had several pieces in my hands and I must say that the watch is stunning. But don`t understimate the opponent, beatiful watch and a brand that is coming up strong in the market. |

Again a heavyweigh championship really hard to make up by bet. Both are "himech", both are "hitech", both have a very strong personality, both are far far away from my economy. But if I ever have the chance to go for one.., well I think that history has to count. I go for Concept. |
