AMVOX 1
by Jaeger LeCoultre

A very interesting offering from one of the last “authentic” manufacturers. They have managed to reclaim the retro style of their legendary Memovox and give it an touch of modernity without losing its original spirit. I love this piece, but I miss a 44 mm version.

It is too bad that this watch has appeared at a time when it seems that watches dedicated to a car manufacturer are in order. This diminishes its importance. At least it is good news that Aston and Jaeger are working together again...

Its two-tone gray dial is reminiscent of JLC's from the 1970s, but with modern touches--not the least of which are the improvements made to their already excellent base calibers over the last five years.
Collector
The convex shape of the sapphire glass and the gray dial make it hard to read in daylight. A beautiful and well-balanced design between "new" and "retro"...

Elegance has always distinguished Jaeger, and with this exceptional piece, they have made no mistake except for the fact that the car industry has been pulling too much from the watch world lately.

Do they need each other? Aston Martin makes superb cars and JLC is a milestone in watchmaking, with this kind of marriage, they just banalize their own merits. In addition, I don't like that screwdriver-shaped minute hand...

Take a dial costing about 50 Swiss francs, put it on a 40 year old+ caliber from your manufacture, add a dash of car history and voila! Another limited edition hits the market. Of course it fits perfectly with the Aston Martin DB9, the newest, sexed up version of an outdated sports car that even a geriatric James Bond would feel at home in......Yawn.
Importer
A well-balanced retro design with a sporty and elegant look at the same time. However, I don't like the shape and the huge difference between the hour and minute hands. It is a nice tribute from JLC to AM, a good synergy.
Dealer/Jeweler
The word "Aston Martin" conjures up thoughts like "sleek," "exciting," and "raw power." I'm afraid this watch has none of that. It's just another Jaeger.
Aficionado
No, no, no! No to JLC and Aston Martin tie-up. No to a poor Polaris look alike and not do-alike (50m W.R.!) No to tired old cal 918 finding another home. Yes to Autotractor, Yes to 300m WR, Yes to Polaris reborn. And now JLC have joined the coloured dial = limited formula a la Doxa in the shape of AMVOX1R. Please stop.
