GMT II "50th Anniversary"
by Rolex

Watch Magazine Editor
Conceived for the numerous “fans” that the brand has around the world, this model offers nothing new. But who expects anything new from Rolex? Why change a formula that has been so successful for decades.
Fashion/Life Style Editor
I don't like yellow gold and least of all the color green. Coming from there, I believe that a watch like the GMT, which is one of my favorite Rolexes, along with the Daytona, has lost its personality and flair.

Rolex is my brand, both as a collector and for daily use. However, their recent Anniverary watches -- the 50th Anniversary Submariner and now the 50th Anniversary GMT -- abandon the very principals that Rolex is founded on: useful innovation and classic design. These green abominations celebrate nothing , represent no innovation, and are an embarrasment to Rolex.
Collector
After seeing this it becomes obvious that ROLEX does not test employees for drugs. I wonder... what where they smoking?
Watch Magazine Journalist
Just as we where surprised by last year's "Feline" creation, Rolex, in a burst of ill-executed eccentricity, launches an astounding statement of bad taste. Gold and green are their weapons of choice. What is difficult to understand is why they do not send their designers to cromotherapy classes. It seems that they believe that with a name in front, everything is possible.

What to say? The GMT II is a good, nice watch. Why have they had to spoil it disguising it in gold? It looks like a clown!
Industry Writer
Yuck, yuck yuckie- does this stuff still get sold? Well yes it does. Perhaps we all just want to go back in time to the days when life was simple and the cold war was still on. In steel it's the choice of Princeton graduates and well off U.S. high school grads. In gold it's the primary choice of the nouveau riche and mob members. But it's now visually so outdated that even high class gangsta rappers won't buy them anymore....nonetheless, it will keep great time, and the after sales service is second to none in the industry.
Importer
One of the worst Rolexes ever. Absolutely unnecessary in the GMT collection, which doesn't deserve this "anniversary" model . If this commemorates its 50th birthday, I wonder what they do when it reaches 100. I am shivering
Dealer/Jeweler
The once highly sought after GMT has just received the commercial "kiss of death." Not one client or dealer has inquired about this piece.
Aficionado
Celebrating what exactly? 50 years of gullible buying public? Obviously not as no-one seems
interested in this abominable effort.
